Pre-College Seminars

Each year, DC-CAP hosts a seminar entitled, “The Pre-College Experience.”  The Pre-College Experience, held at Catholic University, is specifically designed for first-year college freshmen and their parents.  DC-CAP invites representatives from local colleges and universities, along with representatives from OSSE and the Department of Education to provide workshops/sessions for parents and students on the following topics: Federal and State Financial Aid, Academic Advising and Support Services, Surviving Your 1st Year of College, and Attending a HBCU or Predominantly White College, and Managing Personal Finances.

A student panel is also featured so that students and parents are given the opportunity to ask current college students and recent college graduates important questions covering a range of topics.  Students are also able to meet others that will be attending their respective schools prior to arriving to campus.  This is an ideal opportunity for students and parents to receive last minute assistance prior to departing for college.
